For thousands of years, depictions of the magnificent Phoenix were seen in Egyptian, Greek, Hindu, Chinese, and many other cultures. It was perceived to be a “great bird”. The name may have come from the Greek phoinix (blood-red).

Legend says it existed when the universe was created, and that it knows secrets of life and reincarnation. Every 500-1000 years, the old Phoenix would make an appearance. As it was consumed in a Cloud of flames, a new Phoenix would arise.
After it abandoned Earth, the legend was blurred as it was passed down through many generations in stories and art.
Some worshipped the Phoenix as a prime example of eternal and good things - but the wise were happy at its departure.
They knew its beauty was marred by an epic desire for immortality and power. The abomination was searching for horrific ways to to dominate, and change the nature of its existence.
In time, the people of Earth matured, and the Phoenix was forgotten...
...Now it has returned.
