For thousands of years, depictions of the magnificent Phoenix were seen in Egyptian, Greek, Hindu, Chinese, and many other cultures. The name may have come from the Greek phoinix (blood-red).
It was perceived to be a “great bird”.

Legend says it existed when the universe was created, and that it knows secrets of life and reincarnation. Every 500-1000 years, the old Phoenix would make an appearance. As it was consumed in a Cloud of flames, a new Phoenix would arise.
After it mysteriously abandoned Earth, the legend was blurred and warped as it passed down through generations. Some cultures even came to worship the Phoenix as an example of eternal and good things!
...but the wise were happy at its departure.
They knew its beauty was marred by an epic desire for immortality and power. The abomination had used horrific methods to change the nature of its existence.
In time, the people of Earth matured and the "legend" was forgotten...
...Angry shades of crimson rolled across the valley, spinning protein, matter, and energy to a funnel. Higher and higher the twister grew. Upper colors paled to orange and red. The Cloud bloomed from the fury like a giant bird, spreading its wings above the flames....
...The Phoenix has returned.
